The Telugu distribution rights of Prabhas-starrer Adipurush have been picked by leading production house People Media Factory (PMF) for an astronomical sum of Rs 185 crore including GST. Confirming the development, Vivek Kuchibotla, who co-produces most of PMF ventures, speaking to idlebrain.com, said the good content of Adipurush prompted them to acquire the rights. “It cost a lot to make the film and we were also required to spend to obtain the rights,” he stated.

Does he see the possibility of the film doing more than what they’ve spent on it from the two Telugu states? Sounding optimistic, Vivek said, “It has to do. It revolves around the story of lord Rama and contains computer graphics. It should do at least Rs 100 crore in Nizam alone.”

What are the steps they are taking to achieve it? “We will be approaching the government and asking them to increase the ticket fare,” he said.

How many theatres are they looking at to release the film, which will storm into theatres on June 16? “We haven’t come to that yet but it will, however, release on a large scale,” he added.

A cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic Ramayana, Adipurush, set 7,000 years ago, sees Prabhas in the role of Raghav, while Kriti Sanon is playing Janaki and Sunny Singh will be seen as Lakshman. Tanhaji director Om Raut directed it. The film’s pre-release event will be held in the holy town of Tirupati on June 6.

Adipurush aside, PMF will be continuing their association with Prabhas moving ahead as well. Presently producing the actor’s untitled next with Maruthi, the banner will also serve as the Telugu producers of the actor’s next with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Spirit. “It was once again the content that drove us to associate with that film as well. It will begin once Prabhas completes all his existing commitments,” he concluded.
