A solid blockbuster has eluded Akhil Akkineni in his career so far and he has pinned a lot of hopes on Agent to be that gangbuster film. But then it received outright rejection on day one and subsequently crashed at the ticket windows. While his efforts for the film received a wave of praise, the writing, music and direction were criticized heavily.

On Monday, the actor reached out to his fans and well-wishers in a statement, saying “the film unfortunately didn’t translate the way we wished it would be on the screen”. “I want to sincerely thank the cast and crew of Agent who dedicated their lives to see our film come to life. While we tried our level best, the film unfortunately didn’t translate the way we wished it would be on the screen and we could not deliver a good film for you,” he said.

He, however, extended his thanks to producer Anil Sunkara “who was my biggest support system”.

He promised to bounce back stronger. “The love and energy you all give me is the reason I work and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. I will come back stronger for all those who believe in me,” he ended.

Up next, Akhil is rumoured to do a film for UV Creations. Debutant Anil, who has been with UV for a long time, is attached to direct the film. It is believed to be a socio-fantasy entertainer.
