Nandamuri Kalyanram’s next with writer Rajendra Reddy has been titled as Amigos. Announcing the title on Monday, production house Mythri Movie Makers has also disclosed the film’s release date as February 10. Kannada actress Ashika Ranganath is the film’s leading lady, while Ghibran is the composer.
Speaking to idlebrain.com, debutant director Rajendra, who assisted the likes of Chandrasekhar Yeleti, Bommarillu Bhaskar and Surender Reddy in the writing department, dubbed the film as an intense action thriller with twists and turns. “The story unfolds among three identical individuals (played by Kalyanram). However, it will not be a typical triple role film. It is bound to give the audience a new experience. At the risk of not sounding clichéd, there are a lot of thrilling elements in the film,” he stated.
Shot predominantly in Hyderabad and Goa, the film, featuring Jayaprakash, Kalyani Natarajan, Brahmaji, Satyam Rajesh and Saptagiri in supporting roles, was wrapped up in 100 working days. “The support I got from everyone—from Kalyanram garu to cameraman Soundar Rajan — meant that I could wrap up the film without any hassles. It was a super cool experience working with Kalyanram garu who was extremely supportive of my vision. Plus, he is extremely dedicated to his craft. I’m promising a new Kalyanram with the film. The three characters will be distinctly different to each other in terms of personalities and looks,” he added.
Rajendra is glad that his film is releasing after Kalyanram’s Bimbisara, which emerged as a double blockbuster. “We are happy. After Bimbisara, the audiences expect next level stuff from him and our film will reach those expectations. In fact, everyone in the crew shares the same opinion,” he pointed out.
On naming the film as Amigos, which means friends, the director from Chittoor explained, “The film’s concept is new and we wanted a fresh title. The three lookalikes in the film enjoy a beautiful friendship among themselves and we wanted to tell it with a new expression and so, titled it as Amigos. Kalyanram garu and the producers endorsed it excitedly without any second thoughts,” he concluded.
