By now it’s clear that Baby fame Anand Deverakonda is reuniting with his Middle Class Melodies director Vinod Anantoju and writer Janardhan Pasumarthi for a feature, with Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas set to shepherd it. The latest about the untitled project, whose pre-production has been going on for months, is that the makers have locked in a leading lady.
A source close to the development confirms to us, “Malayali actress Malavika Manoj has been cast opposite Anand in the film. Vinod was on the lookout for a fresh face and felt that Malavika was apt for the part and approached her. She came on board after liking her character and the story in total.”
Malavika, who made her screen debut with Prakashan Parakkatte (2022), a Malayalam film, went on to win accolades for her portrayal as Suchi in Tamil language romantic drama Joe, which released last year. She is debuting in Telugu with Oh Bhama Ayyo Rama opposite Suhas. It’s a distinct love story whose glimpse was dropped earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Anand-Vinod’s film will get off the ground post Sankranti with a schedule in Maredumilli, Andhra Pradesh. “Majority of the shoot will take place at Maredumilli, while some parts will be shot in Hyderabad. The makers are looking to wrap up the shooting formalities by April-end if everything goes according to plan. The film is an action-thriller with a unique premise,” the source concludes.
