The trailer of Nandamuri Kalyanram and Vijayashanti-starrer Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi was unveiled at an event in Hyderabad on Saturday and it promises a high-octane action-drama interspersed with mother-son emotion.
Clocking in at 2:35 minutes, the trailer opens with Srikanth, who is Vizag commissioner of police, asking his subordinate Bharat Reddy to prepare a list of rowdy sheeters, gangsters and criminals. Bharath replies, “Over here, there is no top ten list. 1 to 10 is one man and that is Arjun.” We are later introduced to Arjun (played by Kalyanram) who is soaring in mid air to land a punch on an opponent, while exuding swag after landing. Arjun continues to throw more punches left, right and centre against rogue elements in Vizag. The trailer later cuts to Vyjayanthi (Vijayashanti), a senior IPS officer, who is the mother of Arjun. She goes about her job with precision. Srikanth is shocked when he learns about Arjun ending up as a criminal despite being the son of Vyjayanthi. But there’s a story to it. When Vizag is under the grip of a dreaded gangster Pathan (Sohel Khan), it is Arjun who stands up to him, protecting the people. But this act of his comes at a personal cost – steering away from his mother’s principles and eventually drifting apart from her. Then there comes a point where Vyjayanthi is in danger and Arjun has to rescue her against all odds? What is that danger? Will Vyjayanthi ever embrace Arjun again? To know the answers to these questions, we have to wait for some more days.
Summing up, the trailer promises an explosive mix of action, drama and power-packed dialogues – the kind that makes fans hoot in theatres. Seamlessly blending style and substance, the trailer guarantees a typical Telugu commercial potboiler but we hope that there’s a twist that catches us off guard. Kalyanram embodies Arjun with unmatched intensity, delivering powerful one-liners and electrifying stunts, while Vijayashanti brings a sense of grace and emotional depth that you associated with her back in her heyday. Together, it is their emotional bond that seems to be the heart of the film. With his commanding screen presence, Sohel Khan brings an intense and gripping element to the film and his battle against Arjun is to lookout for. Ajaneesh’s score is in sync with the commercial meter of the film.
Also featuring Saiee Manjrekar, Animal Prithvi, Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi is written and directed by Raja Cheyyivesthe fame Pradeep Chilukuri. Ashok Vardhan Muppa and Sunil Balusu are producing it in association with NTR Arts. It opens in cinemas on April 18th.
