As Allu Sirish turned a year older on Tuesday, the makers of his next, Buddy, unveiled the first glimpse of the film. Produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under his famed Studio Green, the film is directed by Sam Anton. “Buckle up for an action packed rise and catch the first glimpse of my Buddy,” Sirish posted while attaching a link.

Playing out over two minutes and 37 seconds, the glimpse introduces a group of masked men paying rapt attention to another masked man in a fast-moving train. The latter announces a bounty for anyone who kills Buddy, a teddy. The masked men, however, laugh at the prospect of easily killing their target but the one who announces the bounty asks them not to take their task lightly. As they prepare to meet their task by loading their weapons, Buddy surfaces on the train. As one of the killers, smoking a cigar and with a knife in hand, approaches Buddy who is listening to music and grooving to the beat, Allu Sirish enters stylishly and neutralizes the threat. He next takes on the battery of killers, pinning them down while throwing some off the train. Seeing what transpired in front of him, the bounty announcer calls to mobilize more forces. The glimpse ends with Buddy firing bullets à la Vikram style. Overall, it promises to be an action ride and an image makeover for Sirish who so far played the quintessential boy-next-door roles.

Ajmal Amir, Prisha Rajesh Singh, Mukeshkumar and Mohammed Ali also feature in Buddy, a Hiphop Tamizha musical. There’s no release date attached to the project yet.
