Mass Ka Das Vishwak Sen is stepping into one of the boldest phases of his career. After proving his multi-faceted talent in films like Falaknuma Das and Das Ka Dhamki- where he juggled acting, direction, and writing, he is now going all-in with his next venture, #CULT. Produced by Sandeep Kakarala under Tarak Cinemas, the film is powered entirely by Vishwak Sen’s creative vision, with him steering the story, screenplay, and direction. Touted as India’s first true slasher film and inspired by disturbing real incidents, #CULT promises a raw, uncompromising cinematic experience- far removed from the conventional Indian film format. The film has already sparked intense buzz with its ferocious first-look poster showcasing Vishwak Sen in a blood-soaked, menacing avatar. Today, the much-awaited teaser has finally been unveiled.
The story follows a group of friends who land in Goa to have the time of their lives, only for their plans to derail when they’re denied entry into a pub for being stags. Just when the night seems ruined, one of them manages to secure Cult Passes to an exclusive party. What begins as a dream experience quickly mutates into a nightmare when the party host introduces a deadly game where survival becomes the only rule. As people are killed one after another with no escape in sight, the narrative takes a gripping turn with the arrival of the Game Master- a figure even more unhinged. Is he a saviour or an even bigger threat?
Vishwaksen introduces a new genre to Indian cinema- and does it with style. The narrative is bold, raw, bloody, and unapologetically brutal. What starts off as a youthful, vibrant setup quickly descends into chaos once the killings begin. Vishwaksen’s skill as a writer and director shines through, delivering a fresh, edgy, and immersive experience. Featuring a largely young cast with 100 newcomers, the performances feel natural and energetic. Vishwaksen’s own arrival toward the end adds heft to the narrative- his violent, ruthless portrayal and commanding screen presence elevate the impact significantly.
The film features an impressive ensemble of young and dynamic actors including Gayatri Bharadwaj, Tarak Ponnappa, Murali Sharma, Srikanth Iyengar, Karthikeya, Anirudh Bhaskar, EZY, Yagnya Turlapati, Kabeer Bhartiya, Vishak Nair, and Chepuri Vivek, each bringing a distinct energy to the story.
Supporting Vishwaksen’s ambitious vision is a powerhouse technical team. The dialogues are penned by Tharun Bhascker, whose sharp writing promises authenticity and wit. Music composer Ravi Basrur is crafting an intense, high-impact soundscape in his trademark style. The film’s visual and technical finesse is further strengthened by cinematographer Arvind Vishwanathan, editor Ravi Teja Girijala, and production designer Arvind Mule, all contributing to the film’s rich texture and scale. The production values look lavish and polished.
Poised with global ambition, #CULT is being prepared for a multilingual release in Telugu, Hindi, Japanese, Spanish, and English, aiming to connect with audiences across continents through its universally gripping theme and cinematic scale.
