No one can calm an angry Balakrishna. The actor returns to the screens with Daaku Maharaaj, the trailer of which was dropped by the makers on Sunday morning and truth to be told it’s explosive.
Roughly three minutes in length, the trailer begins with the voiceover of a girl who states that long ago there lived a king and negative elements of the society labeled him as Daaku. Amid the shots of guns and bodies catching fire, we get to see the man the girl addresses as Maharaaj (Balakrishna). Soon, another Balayya is introduced, Sitharam. There’s another Balayya as well, Nannaji, who is the caretaker of a young baby girl, the granddaughter of a character played by Sachin Khedekar. She is a playful girl who gets Nannaji into trouble with her mischief. Overall, it looks like Balayya is playing a role with three shades. As the editor cleverly cuts between past and present Balayya, enters the ominous Bobby Deol who with his mere glance can cause terror. His men, including the role played by Shine Tom Chacko, don’t hesitate to take the lives of labourers who are working for Bobby. There’s another villain played by Ravi Kishan who is into poaching. We also get glimpses of the characters played by Shraddha Srinath and Pragya Jaiswal, with the former character seemingly holding a lot of importance in the narrative. It concludes with a showdown of epic proportions between Balayya and Bobby Deol. Oh, we can’t wait!
Rounding up, while comparing to the teaser, the trailer is a little bit underwhelming (maybe it’s the ploy of the makers) but it certainly is extremely effective, giving us a glimpse into a world with adrenaline-pumping action, lawlessness and intense drama. Balayya with his multiple shades of character exudes strength and determination in every frame, putting in a measured performance, while Bobby makes a striking appearance as the antagonist. The crisply edited trailer reveals the film’s multiple themes largely but keeps the audiences guessing about its plot, action and storyline with its clever blend of cuts and transitions. While surprisingly the trailer doesn’t include powerful dialogues that one generally associates with Balayya’s trailers, the background scores generate an atmosphere full of thrills and suspense, leaving a huge impact.
Written and directed by Bobby Kolli, the film, a production venture between Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, will arrive in cinema halls on January 12th.
