Daaku Maharaaj has been locked as the title of #NBK109. The makers disclosed it with a teaser on Friday in Hyderabad and it packs a powerful punch, giving us a peek into a world filled with adrenaline-pumping action and intense drama, with Balayya in a never before role.

One-and-half-minute in length, the teaser opens with majestic visuals of a group of men riding a horse and travelling in an arid area while the head of the pack is seen dragging a man along the surface tied to his horse. It cuts to a voice-over which states that this is not the story about gods who spread light or about demons who rule darkness as we see glimpses of Bobby Deol and Ravi Kishan. Nor is it about Ravana who commands these demons. Rather, it is about a king who fought without a kingdom, wielding his axe like a Yamadharamaj. We later get to see a silhouette image of NBK in a setup which has caught fire before he says, “Recognize me? Daaku, Daaku Maharaj?” As it comes to a closure, director Bobby reveals the close-up of the actor’s eyes before the latter leaps from a horse to show his full cut out. Well, that’s an introduction worth a whistle.

Overall, the short clip is a whirlwind of intensity packed with action, featuring Balayya in full battle gear, valiantly charging into combat. It immerses the viewers in a world where crime is rampant, with one man taking on powerful opponents. Thaman’s signature dramatic background score interspersed with Balayya’s simple yet powerful dialogue creates a palpable tension that builds a familiar anticipation that Balayya’s films are known for. His entry as Maharaaj is nothing short of stunning, embodying a fearless warrior who is fighting for the cause of his people. The cinematography by Vijay Kannan is simply spectacular.

Also featuring Shraddha Srinath, Pragya Jaisal, Chandhini Chowdary and Harsh Vardhan in supporting roles, the film, produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya, is scheduled to release on January 12, 2025.
