Devi Sri Prasad has ruled the roost in Telugu cinema since the early 2000s, ushering in a new wave of film music, bringing in a renewed enthusiasm among young crowds, excelling as a singer, musician, lyricist and a performer. The musician’s approach towards cinema has changed considerably in the recent years and it’s obvious that he’s preferring quality over quantity.

After the National-Award winning Pushpa, he worked in as many as 8 films in 2022, but was associated with only one Telugu film last year - Chiranjeevi’s blockbuster Waltair Veerayya. However, if everything goes right, 2024 could be a game-changer all over again for the composer, going by the scale and the artistes, technicians involved in each of the projects across languages.

While Pushpa 2, Sukumar’s sequel to his action thriller, is undoubtedly one of the most awaited albums this year (especially after his National Award win), one can’t wait to see his work for Ustaad Bhagat Singh, directed by Harish Shankar. Harish and Devi Sri Prasad’s earlier collaborations were for Gabbar Singh and Duvvada Jagannadham and both boasted of groovy, catchy, compositions.

The expectations are high for Naga Chaitanya's collaboration with Geetha Arts Thandel. After 100% Love in this combo, Devi Sri Prasad has again scoring music..

Tamil cinema is already pinning high hopes on director Siva’s historical fantasy Kanguva and the promos, posters released to date have received rave feedback from film buffs. Given its unique premise, it’ll be exciting to see how Devi Sri Prasad reasserts his worth with the project. The composer, in addition, is also reuniting with director Hari for Vishal’s multilingual actioner Rathnam.

However, a project that could potentially redefine Devi Sri Prasad’s discography is DNS a.k.a D 51, Sekhar Kammula’s next with Dhanush, Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna. Kammula has an exceptional record with his music albums to date and has introduced names like Mickey J Meyer, KM Radhakrishnan and Ch Pawan into the industry.

Excepting Anamika (by MM Keeravaani), Sekhar Kammula hasn’t associated with a star composer to date. The combination of Devi Sri Prasad’s undeniable versatility and Kammula’s taste with music is every reason why the project, touted to be a political thriller, is worth the wait. Devi Sri Prasad also came on board for Thandel, Naga Chaitanya’s pan Indian film recently.

With multiple pan Indian films, exciting directors and top production houses, Devi Sri Prasad is certainly embarking on another exciting phase in his career.
