Buzz about K Niranjan Reddy of Primeshow Entertainment, who produced the blockbuster Hanu-Man, interested in bagging distribution rights of Double ISMART, directed by Puri Jagannadh, has been swirling around for the past 10 days and we can now confirm that he has indeed snatched the rights for a hefty sum.
According to sources, his production house has picked up worldwide theatrical rights (all languages except Hindi version + North India) of Double ISMART for ₹60 crores (₹54 crores not returnable advance and ₹6 crores returnable advance). Primeshow will make 20% commission after recovering ₹60 crores.
There is a significant buzz around Double ISMART which is a spiritual sequel to Puri’s 2019 box office smash iSmart Shankar and the songs released so far are helping its cause. As per the makers, the film, which is presently in post-production, is going to be crazier in terms of action and entertainment. Ram Pothineni is reprising his role as a street-smart assassin Shankar, while Kavya Thapar is cast opposite him.
The movie, to be released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages on August 15, is produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur under Puri Connects banner.
Ever since the success of Hanu-Man, there seems to be no stopping Niranjan Reddy. While he has the promising Darling, front-lined by Priyadarshi and Nabha Natesh, lined up for release later this week, he is producing Sai Durgha Tej’s next, which is the costliest film of the actor’s career. He is also the producer of Nithiin’s next with Vikram Kumar.
