Vijay Deverakonda’s highly-talked about film with Parasuram has got a title. It’s Family Star. The makers –Sri Venkateswara Creations–chose to drop the glimpse, disclose the title and announce the Sankranti release date on Wednesday. Although the glimpse was delayed by an hour, it was worth the wait.
Roughly over one minute, the glimpse begins with Ajay Ghosh’s character issuing a stern warning to Deverakonda and mocking his family values, “Do you think settlement is akin to purchasing onions by standing in a line or sending school to children?” Vijay responds, “Bhale matladatharanna meerandharu.” As he disturbs the crushed stones on the floor with his chappal, oozing confidence, Vijay goes on, “Does buying onions make me less of a man? Isn’t he a man if he readies his children for school? Is bending a rod enough to prove my masculinity?" He then bends a road and neutralizes an adversary with his head stomped on the floor, sending chills down the spine of Ghosh. “Sorry babai, kangaroo lo kobbarikaya thevadam marchipoyanu. Thalakay kottesanu,” Vijay declares later. With Gopi Sunder’s swagger-inducing background score, the title then flashes as Family Star. The glimpse ends with Mrunal (film’s female protagonist) affectionately calling Vijay as Evandi, much to his astonishment, while giving us the vintage vibes of Geetha Govindam.
In short, Parasuram’s quirky hero characterization is visible for one as Family Star seems to be peppered with family emotions, with signature Parasuram humour and romance. What more do we need for this Sankranti?
KU Mohanan is the cinematographer of Family Star, while Vasu Varma is serving as the creative producer.
#FamilyStar glimpse is beautiful. Vijay Devarakonda is superb in a character that is in the space of “Geetha Govindam”.
