The teaser of global star Ram Charan-starrer Game Changer, which the makers unveiled in Lucknow on Saturday, is a clear example of Shankar’s cinematic brilliance and Charan’s magnetic screen presence coupled together to deliver an unforgettable theatrical experience.
One-and-a-half-minute in length, the teaser opens with a long shot of senior Ram Charan Appanna being lifted up by villagers in what appears to be a moment where Appanna succeeded in the cause for the village. Shankar later cuts to his son Ram, an aspiring IAS officer who is a good-natured individual but when he loses his cool, all hell breaks loose. You don’t want to mess with him for fear of going for a toss in the air. The teaser dedicates a fair amount of time to his college life, focusing very little on his time as an IAS officer. We are also introduced to other key players like Samuthirakani, Sunil, Srikanth and Naveen Chandra. Going by the teaser, it’s obvious that Ram rubs leaders SJ Suryah and Jayaram in a wrong way, leading them to bay for his blood. To know why they are upset at him, guess we have to wait a little longer.
Overall, with top-class visuals, high-octane action, dramatic tension and marvelously shot song sequences, Game Changer teaser promises a socio-political thriller of the highest order. Shankar’s stamp is visible all throughout the clip, while Ram Charan is simply spectacular, carrying two roles with aplomb. Themes of friendship, love, face-offs and revenge seem to be interwoven into the fabric of the plot, creating a rich tapestry of emotions and action. While the background score is a little underwhelming by Thaman’s own standards, trust him to rise to the occasion when the trailer drops.
