Filmmaker-turned-actor SJ Suryah is gung-ho about his character Bobbili Mopidevi, an evil politician, in Shankar’s Game Changer, fronted by global star Ram Charan. “It turned out to be a remarkable character. Credit should go to Shankar sir for conceiving such a magical character. From the looks to mannerism to walking style to sporting rings on fingers, everything about the character is unique. I have a mannerism in the film and it has come out superb. While writing the characters of Mopidevi, Appanna, Ram Nandan and Appanna’s wife (Anjali), Shankar seems to have enacted the parts and thus he developed them even better. It is the reason why you’ll see a certain freshness in these characters. I have a scene with Srikanth garu in the hospital; it’s the scene of the film and scene of the year. It will give more excitement to the audience on screen than me speaking about it. It gave me a high and I’m pretty sure it will give a similar feeling to the audience,” Suryah raved in an exclusive conversation with idlebrain.

He showered high praise on Charan who is playing two roles in the film. “He is already a star actor; inside him there is a genuine actor. So there are two qualities in him. Shankar sir saw him as Appanna and Charan breathed life into it; he was, in fact, great. If his performance in Rangasthalam was on one level, his turn as Appanna will be a step above. Which is why Sukumar garu said he will win a national award. As an IAS officer Ram Nandan as well, he was composed instead of rushing with it,” Suryah stated.

To a question on his assessment of the film as he has got a lengthy role, the actor pointed out, “I somehow managed to see some other parts of the film (laughs). I got goosebumps seeing Appanna role. If you saw him walk in the trailer, there’s a certain style. When I asked Charan sir about it, he said, ‘Even my dad and Shankar garu asked me the same. Now you are asking it. I tried to emulate my grandfather’s look.’ It was great to see him doing it. Acting is not just reeling in dialogue but being the character.”

Also featuring Jayaram, Sunil, Vennela Kishore and Naveen Chandra in supporting roles, with Kiara Advani as the leading lady, Game Changer releases on January 10th. It is a joint production venture between Dil Raju, Sirish, Zee Studios and Adityaram.
