The makers of Vishwak Sen’s 11 have chosen Gangs of Godavari as the title for the film. On Monday, they announced this while also dropping the first glimpse. The film marks prominent lyricist Krishna Chaitanya returning to the director’s saddle after the average grosser Chal Mohan Ranga (2018).
Playing out over 53 seconds, the glimpse opens with Vishwak’s character silently issuing a warning to someone: “Brother, we are natives of Godavari. We might blabber a bit but if we see something wrong, we will smilingly pluck out nerves.” The setting is the banks of ‘90s Godavari. Krishna Chaitanya also introduces other prominent characters like Sai Kumar, Goparaju Ramana and Nasser and all of them cut a stern figure. Leading ladies Neha Shetty and Anjali also appear. The glimpse ends with Vishwak getting a heroic introduction while standing atop a truck. Going for a makeover from head to toe, the actor seems to have embodied the Godavari youth to a tee. The moody and zippy background score by Yuvan Shankar Raja elevates the appeal of the glimpse a notch higher.
Set in the backdrop of Godavari, Gangs of Godavari narrates the journey of a determined and motivated man (Vishwak) who grows from rags- to-riches in a dark and unapologetically cruel world. This world has no morals and doesn't care for anything. The film is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, with Venkat Upputuri and Gopi Chand Innamuri serving as co-producers. It is slotted for a release this December.
