Released amid tough competition and in screens that didn’t justify its potential, Prasanth Varma’s Hanuman, headlined by Teja Sajja, has breached one record after another since Sankranti and how! The film has now entered the prestigious Rs 300 crore club and it achieved the feat in just 25 days.
“The All-Time Sankranthi Blockbuster continues to create All Time Records A phenomenal 300Cr+ Worldwide Gross in 25 Days for #HanuMan and Continuing its glorifying run in all centres ,” Mythri Movie Makers, which distributed the film in Nizam, posted on X on Tuesday.
In North America, the film continues to have a good run despite the competition from new releases. On Sunday, the gross stood at $30,507, taking the overall tally to $5,238,688. The latest release, Ambajipeta Marriage Band collected $28,953 on the same day, taking its combined total to $157,642.
Merging Indian culture and mythology with technically sound visuals, epic vision and unparalleled visual effects, while breaking away from traditional superhero film norms, Hanuman, with universal themes of valour, loyalty, and the timeless battle between good and evil, went on to receive praise for its captivating and grandeur of storytelling. The film has created a new genre in Telugu cinema and shown the potential when made with right concoction. In the process, it carved a page for itself in the annals of Telugu film history.
Set in the fictional village of Anjanadri, Hanuman follows the story of an ordinary guy Hanumanthu who unexpectedly gains superpowers. A formidable super villain later (played by Vinai Rai) enters his life and how he takes on him, while saving Anjanadri forms the crux of the story. Niranjan Reddy Kandagatla has produced the flick, also featuring Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Raj Deepak Shetty, Vennela Kishore, Satya and Getup Sreenu.
