Telugu cinema has begun well in 2024. Three of four Sankranthi releases are putting up a good show at the box office but the undisputed winner in the four-way clash is HanuMan. The mythological fantasy hasn’t only earned critical acclaim across languages but is packing a punch at the ticket window with its performance on weekdays as well.
The film’s dream run is expected to continue this weekend too, with no major releases in Telugu. This Friday has turned out to be quite a memorable one for Prasanth Varma, Teja Sajja and team. Not only has the theatre count increased, but the superhero tale is making waves and has now gone past the prestigious Rs 150 crore (gross) mark across the globe.
HanuMan is super-strong on its second Friday and the collections are expected to get better over the weekend. In addition, it has found a place in an elite league and is now the fifth highest grossing Telugu film in US as well. The film has earned a handsome $ 3.63 million by the 8th day and is expected to touch the $ 4 million figure in the next day or two.
The top 4 Telugu grossers in the US are Baahubali 2 ($20.76 M) , RRR ($14.83 M), Salaar ($ 8.90 M) and Baahubali 1 ($8.47 M). With this feat, HanuMan has also eclipsed Trivikram, Allu Arjun’s biggest hit in the US - Ala Vaikunthapurramulo ($ 3.63 M). Rangasthalam, Bharath Ane Nenu, Saaho and Adipurush are other top grossing films in the US.
The producers have already confirmed that the film will take at least two months to arrive on OTTs and the move is likely to convince more viewers to catch it in theatres. The quality VFX, action sequences, entertaining screenplay have ensured that HanuMan is being appreciated by the younger lot and the family crowds alike.
