The anticipated trailer of Nani and Mrunal Thakur-starrer Hi Nanna was dropped by the makers on Friday at an event in Hyderabad. The do was attended by Nani, debutant director Shouryuv and producers Mohan Cherukuri (CVM) and Dr Vijender Reddy Teegala.
The two-minute-forty-second trailer opens with a single father Nanna (played by Nani), a photographer, narrating a story of a king to his adorable daughter (baby Kiara) and as he reveals about the minister and commander, the daughter gets curious and wonders whether this story too is deprived of a mother. Kiara constantly quizzes her granddad (Jayaram) about her mother when Nanna is at work. One day at a coffee table and amid the presence of Yashna (Mrunal Thakur), Nanna finally decides to reveal about the mother and as he begins to narrate the story, Yashna volunteers herself to be imagined as the mother for Kiara’s comfort. Nanna equates the first sight of seeing his future wife in Ooty as a marvel and their romance takes centre stage for a while after they tie the knot. The story packs in so much emotional depth that Kiara has enough of it and asks Nanna to stop it. Who is Nanna’s wife? Why is she not with him? And what happens between Nanna and Yashna seems to form the crux of the story.
Rounding up, the trailer is admirable and depicts a wonderful father-daughter bond, while also packing in an emotional love story with a lot of depth between Nanna and Yashna. The songs and the background complement the different moods of the trailer well, while the story is in the wheelhouse of Nani. Mrunal looks beautiful and seems to have carried Yashna with a lot of grace and poise, while delivering an emotional punch. Baby Kiara is cute and keeps it real.
Also starring Shruti Haasan, Priyadarshi and Angad Badi, Hi Nanna sails into cinemas on December 7th.
“Amma Nanna O Cute Ammayi”
This is the gist of #HiNanna trailer. Looks like a screenplay based film that plays around with three characters (amma, nanna & papa) with a few scenarios/stories thrown in.
