Telugu star Nani’s much-awaited action thriller HIT: The Third Case has been awarded an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), ahead of its theatrical release. While the rating allows for mature content, the film was cleared only after undergoing a series of censor-suggested modifications.
Directed by Sailesh Kolanu, the third chapter in the acclaimed HIT franchise sees Nani portraying Arjun Sarkaar, a top-tier HIT officer unraveling a string of gruesome murders spanning from Visakhapatnam to Jammu and Kashmir. The film is set to hit the big screens on May 1, 2025, with a runtime of 157 minutes.
Though an ‘A’ rating permits intense themes, the CBFC still advised changes, including muting profanities, trimming graphic violence, and altering scenes that touch on sensitive topics like child abuse and politically charged visuals. One of the major edits involved toning down a scene showing a police uniform being set on fire.
The censor screening took place nearly three weeks ahead of release at Prasad Labs in Hyderabad, with Nani reportedly present. Initially, the CBFC offered a U/A certificate in exchange for more substantial cuts. However, the makers chose to preserve the film’s raw edge and emotional weight, accepting the ‘A’ certification instead.
Also featuring Srinidhi Shetty, Adil Pala, Rao Ramesh, and Brahmaji, HIT: The Third Case will be released in five languages—Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. After its theatrical run, the film is expected to stream on Netflix.
With expectations running high, audiences are curious to see how the film’s intense narrative and dark themes have been handled in light of the censor board’s alterations.
