Close on the heels of revealing Top 10 Most Popular Indian Stars of 2022, IMDb (an abbreviation of Internet Movie Database) on Wednesday dropped IMDb Top 10 Most Popular Indian Movies of the year 2022. In what is a rare moment for Telugu cinema, the list features three Telugu films.

While SS Rajamouli’s action extravaganza RRR, which is generating Oscar hype, is placed first, Adivi Sesh’s one-man show Major, which was also made in Hindi, and Hanu Raghavapudi’s period romance, Sita Ramam, occupied seventh and eighth slots in the popularity chart.

Reacting to Major making it to the list, Sesh posted, “Heart is full My thanks to the team of #Major Every single person on this team worked hard to make #MajorTheFilm one of the top 10 films of the year. #MajorSandeepUnnikrishnan’s Blessings. JAI HIND.”

Films like KGF: Chapter 2, Vikram, 777 Charlie, Ponniyin Selvan, Kantara and Rocketry– of all of which released in Telugu–also found a place in the list. Vivek Agnihotri’s sleeper smash, The Kashmir Files, was ranked second.

Of all the titles released theatrically or digitally in India between January 1 and November 7, 2022, and have an average IMDb user rating of 7 or higher with at least 25,000 votes, these 10 titles were consistently the most popular with IMDb users.
