With the year drawing to a close, IMDb on Wednesday released their much-awaited list of the Top 10 Most Popular Indian Stars of 2022. The list is comprised of stars who consistently ranked the highest on the IMDb weekly rankings throughout 2022. These rankings are based on the actual page views of the more than 200 million monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide.

For the year, Dhanush, who had multiple releases like Maaran, The Gray Man, Thiruchitrambalam and Naane Varuvean, walked away with the top spot, while Alia Bhatt, who had box-office smashes like RRR, Brahmastra and Gangubai Kathiawadi, came a close second. The year also saw her debut as a producer with Darlings which earned rave reviews.

Ram Charan’s swashbuckling tour de force act in RRR meant that he too made it to the list at number four, while his co-star from the same film, NTR Jr, landed the eighth spot. The film’s phenomenal performance on Netflix in the West also added to their cause.

Samantha, who had two releases– one in Tamil (Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal) and other in Telugu (Yashoda) – has been ranked fifth, while Allu Arjun, who didn’t have a single release occupied the ninth slot, with the nationwide fame he earned from Pushpa: The Rise last year continuing to rub off in 2022 as well. Kannada star Yash rounded the list at the 10th spot, thanks to his charismatic act in KGF: Chapter 2, which also set the box-office on fire wherever it was released.
