As part of promotions for Junior, cinematographer Senthil Kumar gave an interview to Idlebrain’s Jeevi. He responded in detail to all of Jeevi’s questions about his journey in the film industry. Senthil emphasized that the role of a cinematographer is crucial in bringing the story to the audience. He shared that his ultimate dream is to become the first Indian cinematographer to win an Oscar. Even though he didn’t personally win one for RRR, he felt immense joy in being part of such a prestigious film. He also expressed pride in being selected for the Oscar jury.
Senthil revealed that working with Rajamouli always feels like a challenge, as each of his films is uniquely made. He recalled missing the chance to work on Maryada Ramanna due to his prior commitment to NTR’s Ashok. He believes that sometimes taking breaks helps maintain good relationships.
As a technician, Senthil said he’s never been 100% satisfied with any project, always feeling it could have been better — except for Eega, which gave him the most satisfaction. He mentioned doing extensive research for Eega, particularly to visualize how a fly would appear to a human being.
He noted that as a cinematographer, he constantly strives to capture emotion from actors, highlighting one particular “eye shot” of Ram Charan in RRR as a favorite. He was especially excited by Charan’s introduction scene and spoke of a stunning top-down shot of Jr. NTR in the Komaram Bheemudo song, captured using a 150mm lens to naturally convey emotion.
Senthil said there’s never a dull moment when working with a brilliant technician like Rajamouli. Regarding the Mahesh Babu–Rajamouli project, he said there was no special reason for not being involved — it was just that Rajamouli wanted to collaborate with someone new after RRR.
He praised the Junior team, saying it’s a great blend of young and experienced talent, and that the film offered him a fresh learning experience, almost like a guide. Though the team initially planned to wrap the film in six to nine months, delays occurred due to the lead actor's injury, making the timeline longer than expected. “At one point, I thought if I involve in any project, big or small - it will take 3-4 years".
Senthil advised aspiring filmmakers to not only master their craft but also gain knowledge about other crafts in cinema to better refine their own work. He concluded by saying that Junior is a film that will appeal to audiences of all age groups.

జూనియర్ ప్రమోషన్ లో భాగంగా సినిమాటోగ్రాఫర్ సెంథిల్ కుమార్ ఐడిల్ బ్రెయిన్ జీవికి ఇంటర్వ్యూ ఇచ్చారు. ఇన్నేళ్ల తన కెరీర్ లో జరిగిన విషయాలపై జీవి అడిగిన అన్ని ప్రశ్నలకూ సవివరంగా సమాధానాలిచ్చారు సెంథిల్. కథను ప్రేక్షకుడికి చేర్చడంలో కెమెరామేన్ పని తరం కీలక పాత్రను పోషిస్తుందన్నారు. ఎప్పటికైనా ఆస్కార్ ను గెలిచే మొదటి భారతీయ కెమెరామేన్ అవ్వడమే తన కల అని, RRR సినిమా విషయంలో తనకు వ్యక్తిగతంగా ఆస్కార్ రాకపోయినా, అలాంటి గొప్ప సినిమాలో భాగమవ్వడం చాలా సంతోషాన్నిచ్చింది అన్నారు. ఆస్కార్ జ్యూరీలో స్థానం లభించడం తనకు చాలా గర్వకారణం అన్నారు. రాజమౌళి గారితో చేసే ప్రతి సినిమా ఒక ఛాలెంజ్ మాదిరే ఉంటుందన్నారు. ప్రతీ సినిమా ఒకదానికొకటి భిన్నంగా తీయడంలో రాజమౌళి సిద్ధహస్తుడన్నారు. ఎన్టీఆర్ గారి అశోక్ సినిమా చేయడం వల్లనే ఆ సమయంలో మర్యాద రామన్న సినిమా చేయలేకపోయానన్నారు. కొన్ని కొన్ని సందర్భాల్లో బ్రేక్స్ ఇవ్వడం వలన కూడా సంబంధాలు మంచిగా నడుస్తాయన్నారు. ఒక టెక్నీషియన్ గా ఏ సినిమా కూడా పూర్తిగా వంద శాతం సంతృప్తిని ఇవ్వలేదని, ఇంకా బాగా చేస్తే బాగుండనే అనిపిస్తుందని, కాకపోతే 'ఈగ' సినిమా మాత్రం ఎక్కువ సంతృప్తిని ఇవ్వగలిగిందన్నారు. ఆ సినిమా కోసం చాలా రీసెర్చ్ చేశామని, ఈగ మనిషిని చూస్తే మనిషెలా కనిపిస్తాడో అన్న విషయంలో ఎక్కువ వర్క్ చేశామన్నారు.
కెమెరామేన్ గా ఎప్పుడూ నటుల నుండి ఎమోషన్స్ రాబట్టుకోవడానికే ప్రయత్నాలు చేస్తూనే ఉంటానని, అలాంటి గొప్ప షాట్స్ లో రామ్ చరణ్ పై RRR సినిమాలో తీసిన ఐ షాట్ ఒకటన్నారు. ఆ సినిమాలో రామ్ చరణ్ ఇంట్రడక్షన్ సీన్ తనను చాలా ఎక్సైట్ చేసిందన్నారు. తారక్ కొమరం భీముడో పాటలో పై నుండి క్రిందకు తీసే ఒక అద్భుతమైన షాట్ కోసం హావభావాలను అత్యంత సహజంగా తీయడం కోసం 150mm లెన్స్ వాడామన్నారు. రాజా మౌళి లాంటి గొప్ప టెక్నీషియన్ తో పనిచేయడంలో బోర్ కొట్టడం అనే అవకాశమే ఉండదన్నారు. మహేష్ బాబు రాజమౌళి సినిమాకు పనిచేయకపోవడానికి అంటూ ప్రత్యేక కారణం అంటూ ఏమీ లేదని, RRR తరువాత వేరే వ్యక్తితో పనిచేయాలన్న రాజమౌళి గారి ఉద్దేశ్యం కారణంగానే చేయలేదన్నారు. 'జూనియర్' సినిమా టీమ్ చాలా బాగుందన్నారు. ఈ టీమ్ లో యువతరంతో అనుభవం ఉన్న నటులు కూడా ఉన్నారని, ఈ సినిమా ఒక గైడ్ లా సరికొత్త అనుభూతిని తనకిచ్చిందన్నారు. జూనియర్ సినిమాను ఆరు నుండి తొమ్మిది నెలల్లో పూర్తిచేయాలనుకున్నా, హీరోకి ప్రమాదం జరగడం లాంటి వివిధ కారణాల వలన ఆలస్యమైందన్నారు. ఆ సందర్భంలో "నేనే సినిమా చేసినా మూడు నాలుగు సంవత్సరాలు పడుతుందేమో" అనిపించిందన్నారు. సినిమాల్లోకి రావాలనుకున్న వ్యక్తులు తమ క్రాఫ్ట్ తో పాటూ మిగిలిన క్రాఫ్ట్స్ మీద కూడా అవగాహన పెంచుకుంటే తమ క్రాఫ్ట్ పై ఇంకా బాగా పట్టు సాధించొచ్చు అన్నారు.
