Superstar Dhanush, King Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna star in Shekhar Kammula’s highly anticipated Pan-India film Kubera. With a stellar cast, Kubera is poised to be a game-changer in Indian cinema. The promotional content released so far has received a tremendous response. Songs like "Poyira Mama", "Trance of Kubera", and "Pippi. Dum Dum" have become chartbusters, trending across music platforms.

The film is being produced on a grand scale with high production values by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao on SVCLLP, in collaboration with Amigos Creations Pvt. Ltd. Kubera will be released worldwide in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam on June 20.

Speaking at a press meet, Nagarjuna shared key insights about the film:

Why take up a multi-starrer like Kubera?
“To tell great stories, stars need to work together. I’ve done many such films before. My father ANR garu, NTR garu, Krishna garu, Sobhan Babu garu — they’ve all done films together. That culture needs to continue.”

On working with Shekhar Kammula:
“I’ve wanted to work with Shekhar for a long time. We’ve all admired his work since Anand. I really like his style — his films always have a socially relevant core, while remaining commercial and musical.”

What’s unique about Kubera?
“There’s a very strong, socially relevant point in Kubera. Shekhar has had it in his mind for a long time. The film shows a clash between ultra-rich, middle class, and below poverty line sections of society. It’s a reflection of what’s happening today.”

Tell us about your character:
“I play a middle-class CBI officer. My character is torn between doing good or evil — a moral dilemma. It has many shades and layers, and Shekhar wrote it brilliantly. It has scope for a subtle and powerful performance.”

“The film is filled with relatable real-life incidents. Dhanush has completely immersed himself in his role — he’s done an incredible job.”

Did Shekhar Kammula make changes to suit your image?
“No, not at all. He stuck to his vision. I didn’t ask for any changes either. Altering it would have ruined it.”

Did you ask anyone about Shekhar’s working style?
“Yes, I asked Chaitanya. He said, ‘You’ll enjoy every moment of working with him.’”

Is this your most different role to date?
“Yes. The story is different. My body language, dialogue delivery, and reactions — all are different. It’s very much in Shekhar’s signature style.”

“We shot almost entirely in real locations like Tirupati, Mumbai, Goa, and Bangkok.”

Rashmika’s role?
“Her character is very entertaining. She did a fantastic job. I told her after watching it, ‘You’re the star of this film.’ It’s a refreshing role.”

About the producers:
“Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao wanted to make a big film. This project was developed on a Pan-India scale with great passion. They didn’t compromise on Shekhar’s vision. The film has come out with top-notch quality.”

On DSP’s music:
“Music is very crucial for this film. Every song fits the situation. Devi Sri Prasad has given wonderful music.”

Final thoughts on Kuberaa:
“This is a very different story. It’s not a regular screenplay or routine character film. There’s no typical hero or heroine — every character is important. It takes guts to make such films.”

Is King 100 in planning?
“Yes. We’re planning it. The working title is King 100.”

You’re looking very fit — any diet changes?
“Nope. I’ve been doing the same routine for the past 15 years. Nothing new.”

Your opinion on the Pan-India trend?
“Pan-India films are very hard to pull off. Not every film fits that label. Just because you make one doesn’t mean it automatically becomes a pan-India hit.”

What’s the update on Shiva 4K?
“Shiva 4K is done. We’re now working on enhancing it with even better effects. I saw one reel — it looks absolutely amazing.”

Are you doing a film with Sithara banner?
“Yes, I want to work with Sithara, People Media Factory, and others. But the right project needs to fall into place.”

Your role in Coolie?
“In Coolie, I’m doing a very different character. Lokesh Kanagaraj is a complete new-age director. My role is quite unique — it’s the first time I’ve done something like this.”

కుబేర లాంటి మల్టీ స్టారర్ ప్రాజెక్ట్ చేయడానికి కారణం ?
-మంచి కథలు రావాలంటే స్టార్స్ కలిసి పనిచేయాలి. ఇంతకుముందు కూడా నేను చాలా సినిమాలు చేశాను. నాన్నగారు(ఏఎన్ఆర్) ఎన్టీఆర్ గారు, కృష్ణ గారు, శోభన్ బాబు గారు.. ఇలా అంతమంది కలిసి ఎన్నో సినిమాలు చేశారు.

-శేఖర్ కమ్ముల గారితో వర్క్ చేయాలని ఎప్పటినుంచో ఉండేది. ఆనంద్ దగ్గర నుంచి ఆయన సినిమాలు గురించి మనందరికీ తెలుసు. ఆయన సినిమాలు నాకు బాగా ఇష్టం. ఆయన కథల్లో సోషల్ రెలివెంట్ పాయింట్ ఉంటుంది. మిగతావన్నీ కూడా కమర్షియల్ గానే ఉంటాయి. అద్భుతమైన పాటలు ఉంటాయి.

కుబేరలో ఉన్న యూనిక్ పాయింట్ ఏమిటి ?
-కుబేరలో చాలా మంచి యూనిక్ పాయింట్ ఉంది. ఇప్పుడున్న సొసైటీకి ఆ పాయింట్ చాలా రిలెవెంట్. శేఖర్ గారికి ఈ పాయింట్ మైండ్ లో ఎప్పటినుంచో ఉంది.

-ఈ సినిమాల్లో మంచోళ్ళు ఉన్నారు. చెడ్డోళ్ళు ఉన్నారు. అల్ట్రారిచ్, మిడిల్ క్లాస్, బిలో పావర్టీ లైన్.. ఇలా మూడు సొసైటీల మధ్య క్లాష్ ఈ సినిమాలో ఉంటుంది.

ఇందులో మీ క్యారెక్టర్ ఎలా ఉంటుంది?
-నాది మిడిల్ క్లాస్ క్యారెక్టర్. సిబిఐ ఆఫీసర్ క్యారెక్టర్ లో కనిపిస్తాను. మంచి చేయాలా? చెడు చేయాలా? అనే సంఘర్షణ మధ్య ఆ క్యారెక్టర్ ఉంటుంది. నా క్యారెక్టర్ లో చాలా షేడ్స్ వుంటాయి. శేఖర్ నా క్యారెక్టర్ ని చాలా అద్భుతంగా రాశారు. షటిల్ పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ కి మంచి స్కోప్ ఉండే క్యారెక్టర్.

- ఇందులో చాలా అద్భుతమైన ఇన్సిడెంట్స్ ఉంటాయి. అవన్నీ కూడా రియల్ లైఫ్ కి రిలేటెడ్ గా ఉంటాయి.

-ధనుష్ తన పాత్రలో ఒదిగిపోయాడు. అద్భుతంగా చేశాడు.

శేఖర్ గారు మీ ఇమేజ్ కి తగ్గట్టు స్క్రిప్ట్ లో ఏమైనా మార్పులు చేశారా ?
-లేదండి. ఆయన ఏమనుకున్నారో అదే చేశారు. నేను కూడా ఎలాంటి మార్పులు అడగలేదు. మారిస్తే చెడిపోతుంది.

మీ ఫ్యామిలీలో దాదాపుగా అందరూ శేఖర్ కమ్ముల గారితో చేశారు కదా.. ఆయన స్టైల్ గురించి ముందుగా ఎవరినైనా అడిగారా?
-చైతన్యని అడిగాను. ‘ఆయన వర్కింగ్ స్టైల్ చాలా బాగుంటుంది. మీరు సినిమా అంతా ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తారని' చెప్పాడు

ఇప్పుడు వరకు మీరు చేసిన క్యారెక్టర్ అన్నిటిలో కుబేరలో క్యారెక్టర్ డిఫరెంట్ గా ఉంటుందా ?
- ఈ సినిమా కథ డిఫరెంట్. నా బాడీ లాంగ్వేజ్, మాట తీరు, రియాక్షన్... అవన్నీ కూడా కొత్తగా ఉంటాయి. శేఖర్ కమ్ముల స్టైల్ లో ఉంటాయి.

- సినిమాని దాదాపుగా రియల్ లొకేషన్స్ లోనే షూట్ చేశాం. తిరుపతి, ముంబై, గోవా, బ్యాంకాక్ ఇలా అన్ని బిగ్ రియల్ లొకేషన్స్ లో వర్క్ చేసాం.

రష్మిక మందన క్యారెక్టర్ ఎలా ఉంటుంది?
-తన క్యారెక్టర్ చాలా ఎంటర్టైనింగ్ గా ఉంటుంది. తను చాలా అద్భుతంగా చేసింది. సినిమా చూసి నువ్వే స్టార్ అని చెప్పాను. ఆ కథలో చాలా రిప్రెషన్ క్యారెక్టర్ అది.

కుబేర నిర్మాతల గురించి?
సునీల్ నారంగ్, పుష్కర రామ్మోహన్ గారు ఒక పెద్ద సినిమా చేయాలనుకున్నారు. తెలుగు, తమిళ్.. పాన్ ఇండియా స్థాయిలో ఈ ప్రాజెక్టుని చేయడం జరిగింది. చాలా పాషన్ తో సినిమా తీశారు. డైరెక్టర్ శేఖర్ కమ్ములకి కావాల్సినది ఎక్కడా కాంప్రమైజ్ కాకుండా ఇచ్చారు. సినిమా చాలా అద్భుతమైన క్వాలిటీతో వచ్చింది.

దేవి శ్రీ ప్రసాద్ మ్యూజిక్ గురించి?
-ఈ సినిమాకి మ్యూజిక్ చాలా ఇంపార్టెంట్. పాటలు చాలా సిచువేషనల్ గా వస్తాయి. దేవి వండర్ ఫుల్ మ్యూజిక్ ఇచ్చాడు.

-ఈ కథ చాలా డిఫరెంట్ గా ఉంటుంది. రెగ్యులర్ స్క్రీన్ ప్లేకాదు. రొటీన్ క్యారెక్టర్స్ కావు. ప్రతీది డిఫరెంట్ గా ఉంటుంది. ఇందులో ఏ క్యారెక్టర్ కూడా హీరో హీరోయిన్ అనడానికి లేదు. అన్ని పాత్రలు గానే ఉంటాయి. ఇలాంటి సినిమాలు చేయడానికి గట్స్ కావాలి.

100 సినిమా ప్లానింగ్స్ జరుగుతున్నాయని విన్నాం?
అవునండి. ప్లానింగ్ చేస్తున్నాం. వర్కింగ్ టైటిల్ కింగ్ 100 అని పెట్టారు.

చాలా ఫిట్ గా కనిపిస్తున్నారు. ఈ మధ్యకాలంలో ఆహార నియమాల్లో ఏమైనా మార్పులు చేశారా?
లేదండి. గత 15 ఏళ్లుగా ఏం చేస్తున్నానో అదే చేస్తున్నాను. కొత్తగా చేసింది ఏమీ లేదు.

పాన్ ఇండియా ట్రెండ్ మీద మీ ఒపీనియన్ ?
-పాన్ ఇండియా సినిమాలు చేయడం చాలా కష్టమైన పని. అన్ని సినిమాలు దానికి సరిపోవు. పాన్ ఇండియా సినిమా అని తీసినవన్నీ కూడా పాన్ ఇండియా సినిమాలో కావడం లేదు కదా.

శివ 4k పనులు ఎంతవరకు వచ్చాయి ?
శివ 4కె ఫినిష్ అయింది. ఇంకా బెటర్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్ కోసం వర్క్ జరుగుతుంది. చాలా బాగా వస్తుంది. ఒక రీల్ చూసాను. చాలా అద్భుతంగా ఉంది.

సితార బ్యానర్ లో మీరు ఒక సినిమా చేస్తారాని విన్నాం?
సితార , పీపుల్ మీడియా ఫ్యాక్టరీ.. ఇలా అందరికీ చేయాలని ఉంది. అయితే ప్రాజెక్ట్ సెట్ కావాలి.

కూలీలో మీ క్యారెక్టర్ ఎలా ఉండబోతోంది ?
-కూలీలో డిఫరెంట్ కరెక్ట్ చేస్తున్నాను. లోకేష్ కనకరాజ్ కంప్లీట్ న్యూ ఏజ్ డైరెక్టర్. క్యారెక్టర్ చాలా కొత్తగా వుంటుంది. ఫస్ట్ టైం ఇలాంటి క్యారెక్టర్ ప్లే చేశాను.
