After the surprise success of Maa Oori Polimera on leading OTT platform Disney+Hotstar, the makers are ready with the sequel Maa Oori Polimera 2. Dr Anil Vishwanath, who directed the first part, has returned to direct the sequel, whose trailer was unveiled in Hyderabad on Saturday. The sequel will be landing in cinema halls directly instead of taking a streaming route, on November 3.

The-two-minute-seven-second trailer opens with a news anchor asking whether black magic still exists. After all, there’s been a scenario of two bodies on one funeral pyre, she laments. The setting is Mahaboobnagar. Then it cuts to the voiceover of a cop who says: “Everyone’s ethics have a value. To what extent, it depends on his weakness.” We are once again introduced into the lives of Komaraiah (Satyam Rajesh) and his wife played by Kamakshi. While the first part followed what happens after the mysterious death of a sarpanch and how it affects the lives of three brothers, the sequel seems to focus on a temple outside the village limits. “Every temple has a history, but this temple is a mystery,” goes one of the characters. To understand some of the stories happening in the village, one should enter the temple, adds the cop. At the same time, Komaraiah feels he is being called by God to enter the temple, much against his wife’s wishes who reminds him that the temple has a dark past. What happens next seems to form the crux of the story, while a particular character at the end wonders whether the temple has any link to the famous Shree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Kerala, widely considered as the world's richest Hindu temple?

With elaborate sound scope that adds to the terror, creepy surroundings, mysterious characters and jump scares, Maa Oori Polimera 2 seems to be a spook-fest just like the first part. In fact, the makers are promising double the thrills and suspense.

The likes of Getup Srinu, Baladitya, Chitram Seenu, Ravi Varma, Rakendu Mouli and Sahiti Dasari are rounding out the supporting characters in the film, a Gyaani musical.
