Into its second week, Sithara Entertainments MAD, headlined by relatively fresh faces Narne Nithin, Sangeeth Sobhan and Ram Nithin, continues to rake in the moolah. After grossing in Rs 14 crore in the first week, the movie entered the second week on a high, with no significant major releases to offer it a stiff competition at the turnstiles.
In the US, the film, despite no star value, exceeded expectations and performed very well, courtesy the excellent positive word-of-mouth. “#MAD refuses to slow down The #MADness has crossed over Half -Million Dollars and more to come! Thank you for making #BlockbusterMAD, one of the biggest hits of the year,” Sithara posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. Cognier Cine Creations released the flick over there.
In the process of crossing half a million dollars in the US, MAD has become the 12th highest Telugu grosser over there. With Dasara releases still three days away, its advantage MAD until then.
Also featuring Sri Gauri Priya Reddy, Anantika Sanilkumar, Gopika Udyan, Vishnu Oi, Raghubabu, Racha Ravi and Muralidhar Goud, MAD, which marked the directorial debut of Kalyan Shankar, who previously directed the web series Nenu Mee Kalyan, is a campus entertainer with themes of friendship and romance. College-goers, especially, have taken a big liking to the movie as it resonated with them big time. The film’s soundtrack too had a good recall value.
