Like with all his films, Shankar has mounted Game Changer, his next with Ram Charan, on a grand scale and is leaving no stone unturned to capture some stunning visuals. As a part of this, our sources tell us exclusively that he has used a Mocobot camera for an action sequence which is currently being filmed at Shamshabad.
Fastest of its kind, the high speed motion control robot camera (Mocobot) has been created to give a filmmaker the most spectacular images in crisp focus that otherwise would be impossible by hand or any other method. With Mocobot, a cameraman can create accurate and precise camera movements that can be repeated with extreme precision in different velocities; no matter how big or small the shoot is; it is perfect for action, sport and fashion. It is programmed to precision via the Lensmaster software interface allowing the camera rig to give you unimaginable shots. While it takes a couple of hours to set it up, the output is worth it.
While the camera has been predominantly employed for the shooting of commercials, Tamil films like Beast, Vikram, Thunivu (Thegimpu in Telugu) have used it for some cool action shots. The interval action sequence in Vikram where Kamal sheds off his mask and takes on multiple men on road was shot using Mocobot. Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is repeating the camera for his on-sets Leo, headlined by Vijay, again.
A source close to the unit of Game Changer tells us, “Using Mocobot was Shankar’s idea of enlivening the climax action sequence, which has been envisioned on a mega scale, further. With choreographer’s duo Anbariv already having the experience of working with the camera for Beast and Vikram meant that Shankar’s vision had the right team to get some breathtaking visuals.”
Shankar is no stranger to using new equipment. For the much-raved “Ale Ale” song in Boys, 62 cameras were linked and the song was shot using a new ‘time-freeze’ technique with the help of Australian cinematographer Mark Ruff's rig.
Game Changer, a political drama, sees Charan in dual roles– of father and a son, while Srikanth will be playing a chief minister. A production venture of Dil Raju and Shirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film is a Thaman musical. There is no release date attached to the project yet. The present schedule, which commenced on April 24th, will end on May fifth.
