Multi hyphenate Bandi Saroj Kumar, who was last seen in Parakramam, is playing the antagonist part in national award-winning director Sandeep Raj’s film Mowgli, idlebrain.com has learnt exclusively. In a career spanning nearly 15 years, Saroj, who has carved a niche for himself both as an actor and director with his indie projects made for digital audiences, has never done a film outside his direction.
A source close to the development confirms to us, “In Mowgli, the antagonist part carries a ton of weight and Sandeep wanted a performer like Saroj. While Saroj was initially reluctant to the idea of playing a supporting role, he changed his mind once he heard the story. Both the story and his character got him excited and there was no way he was overlooking the project. The fact that the film was being helmed by Sandeep was a bonus.”
The source adds, “Saroj has already shot for a majority of the part and in another 10 days his portion will be wrapped up. He will be seen as a cop in the film. He is giving whatever Sandeep needs in a single take.”
Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under their People Media Factory, Mowgli is a modern love story set in the backdrop of a forest. Roshan Kanakala and debutante Sakshi Sagar Mhadolkar are playing the lead pair. The first schedule of the film was completed in Rampachodavaram, AP and it is presently progressing at Aluminum Factory, Lingampally, where Sandeep is filming scenes involving Saroj Kumar in a police station set up.
A Kaala Bhairava musical, Sandeep is directing Mowgli from a screenplay by M Rama Maruthi and Radhakrishna Reddy.
