Aadi Kesava, featuring Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Sree Leela in the lead roles, has been deferred once again. While delay in post production was cited as one of the reasons for earlier postponement, this time around, the ongoing cricket world cup had a say.
Says film’s producer Naga Vamsi, “The world cup fever is on and you can see what’s happening when India is playing. I’ve had two releases last month –MAD and Leo –and both of them saw a dip in collections when India played its matches. Also, most India matches are being played on Sunday. Now, we are headed for the semi-final. Hopefully India would go on to win the final. The semi-finals are on November 15th and 16th, with the final scheduled on Nov 19th. So we felt our revenue will take a beating if we come on November 10th and additionally our film is slotted with some other films. So instead of arriving now and killing the film, we felt the need to move to November 24th. Even our distributors advised the same.” The producer was speaking to media persons in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Vamsi also spoke about Vishwak Sen being unhappy about Gangs of Godavari being moved from its December 8th release date after films like Hi Nanna and Extra threw their hat in the ring on the same date. “Nani garu and Nithiin garu have been associated with our banner in the past. Vishwak might have thought that I might defer the film to avoid such competition. As a matter of fact, we haven’t thought about the postponement of Gangs of Godavari yet. The shoot is going on and we need to film a song still. Afterwards, we need to check what we’ve shot. We still have time to figure out about the film,” Vamsi added.
Sensing a postponement, Vishwak took to X to pen a strongly-worded statement recently, saying he would not be promoting the film if its release date was to be postponed. It’s another story that he later deleted the post. His statement was obvious that he desperately wanted to come on December 8th come rain or shine. Reacting to it, Vamsi said, “Nothing like desperate. If we have to defer a date after announcing, any hero would feel bad about it.”
Vamsi, in the same interaction, also disclosed that superstar Mahesh Babu-starrer Guntur Kaaram’s first single will be dropped later this week.
