At the 69th National Film Awards which were announced on Thursday evening in New Delhi, Telugu films and pan India super hits RRR and Pushpa swept away awards in major categories, with Allu Arjun walking away with the Best Actor trophy and RRR winning the Best Film for Wholesome Entertainment. Arjun is the first Telugu actor to have won the Best Actor award in the annals of Telugu film history.
RRR, which has been a worldwide box office smash, also won awards in categories like Best Choreography (Prem Rakshit), Best Stunt Choreography (King Solomon), Best Male Playback Singer (Kaala Bhairava for Komuram Bheemudo) and Best Special Effects (V Srinivas Mohan). The Best Music award has been given in two categories this time around, with MM Keeravani winning it for his background score for RRR, while Devi Sri Prasad won for his chartbuster Pushpa soundtrack. Chandrabose, who won an Oscar for penning the lyrics of Naatu Naatu (from RRR), was awarded the Best Lyricist for his work (Dham Dham Dham) in Kondapolam.
In the regional category, Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings Uppena, directed by debutant Buchi Babu Sana, was adjudged as the Best Telugu Film.
R Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect was declared as the Best Feature Film while The Kashmir Files won the Nargis Award for Best Film on National Integration. Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon were declared as Best Actors (Female) for their turns in Gangubhai Kathiawadi and Mimi. Pallavi Joshi (The Kashmir Files) and Pankaj Tripathi (Mimi) have been named Best Supporting Actors.
