For a long time, acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Vetrimaaran’s name was attached to a film with Jr NTR. And guess what? It’s happening. “After Asuran, I have met Jr NTR and we are talking. It is bound to happen but I take time to make a film; it takes a long time for me to finish a film and move on to the next. That is the problem; otherwise we want to try,” the director declared. He was speaking after the screening of Vidudala to media persons in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The film is a Tamil dubbed version of his Viduthalai-Part 1, which opened in Tamil Nadu on March 31st last month.

That’s not all! Vetrimaaran added that he was in talks with Allu Arjun as well. “After Aadukalam, I had come and met Allu Arjun. In fact, he met me in Chennai as well. He told me, ‘Sir I want to come to Tamil. If you are interested, tell me a story.’ I told him about a powerful role in Vada Chennai. I’ve rewritten it later. In fact the film that was made was not what I initially envisioned. I told Allu Arjun it would be a nice character but that didn’t happen. I have met Mahesh Babu as well after Aadukalam,” the director noted.

Vidudala, featuring Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre and Prakash Raj, tells the story of a constable (played by Soori) who is recruited to capture the leader of a separatist group. A period drama, it also sheds light on police brutality. Based on the novel Thunaivan by Jeyamohan, it opens in Telugu later this Friday. The original received rave reviews and is running successfully in Tamil Nadu.
