Released amid sky-high expectations– as it was Ram Charan’s next after the blockbuster Magadheera– Orange, written and directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar, couldn’t cut the mustard at the turnstiles. However, over a period of time, it attracted a loyal fan following for its inherent philosophy and attained cult status.

As it clocked 12 years since release on Saturday, the clamour from mega fans for its re-release grew louder and wider. With old films of Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan and Prabhas getting a re-release in the past three months and enjoying decent footfalls, it was only natural for Charan fans to put a request to Orange producer Naga Babu to consider re-releasing it again.

And the plea didn’t fall on deaf ears, as Naga Babu responded positively on Sunday, saying that the re-release will be planned on a good occasion. Attaching a meme video which celebrated Orange completing 12 years, he posted on Twitter, “Celebrating 12 Glorious years for all time classic #Orange The film which holds a very special place in many of hearts for its ever refreshing music & heart warming Love story On demand of Orange Fans Soon Re-release of #orangemovie will be plan on a Good Ocassion (sic).”

A romantic drama, Orange told the story of a youngster Ram (played by Charan) who doesn't believe that love can last a lifetime. As a person with strong morals, he is honest and wants to love life and live with an open mind, open thought and open action with his lover. He pursues an exuberant romantic (Genelia), but their clashing ideologies keep them apart. The film’s soundtrack, composed by Harris Jayaraj, is still a favourite for many.
