The trailer of Srinivas Avasarala’s next, Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi (PAPA), frontlined by Naga Shaurya and Malavika Nair, was released at the pre-release event of the film in Hyderabad over the weekend. And like Avasarala’s previous collaborations with Shaurya, it promises to be a simple tale of relations between people.
Running over two minutes and 16 seconds, the trailer oscillates between the three stages of the lead characters – Sanjay played by (Shaurya) and Anupama (Malavika) – lives, with the first one minute and 20 seconds specially dedicated to their romance from college life to adult life. While everything seems good and plain, differences crop up and they take the centre stage in the next half of the trailer as new characters –played by Avasarala and Megha Chowdhury –enter their idyllic lives abroad but it’s evident that they still harbour strong feelings for each other. Malavika Nair looks a million bucks as her makeup is kept minimal, while Avasarala keeps the proceedings natural. The music and the background song caress the trailer like a gentle breeze.
A production between TG Vishwa Prasad and Padmaja Dasari, Papa, also featuring Ashok Kumar, Abhishek Maharshi, Srividhya, Varanasi Soumya Chalamcharla and Harini Rao, bows later this week. It has music by Kalyani Malik.
