A couple of days after megastar Chiranjeevi’s Bhola Shankar booked its berth for August 11 this year, it’s now the turn of younger brother power star Pawan Kalyan to occupy a release date. His upcoming film, the remake of Tamil hit Vinodaya Sitham remake, will be sailing into cinema halls on July 28th later this year, film’s production house People Media Factory (PMF) revealed on Friday. It will be his first release of the year. While everybody expected Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which is more than halfway through its shoot, to release first, Vinodaya Sitham remake pipped it to the post.

“#PKSDT storming in theatres from 28 July, 2023,” PMF posted on Twitter. The untitled film has gone on to floors last month in Hyderabad.

According to a source, the film’s production is happening at a breakneck speed and with P Samuthirakani, who has the experience of shooting thousands of episodes of Tamil soaps at the helm; the shoot is going as per schedule. The fact that he shot the original means that he has a clear idea of what he wants and what he doesn’t, adds the source.

The Tamil original, a fantasy comedy released in 2021, told the story of a self-obsessed man (played by Thambi Ramaiah) in his 50s– also a control freak– who dies in an accident. At his request, ‘the time’ (Samuthirakani) grants him an extension of 90 days to correct his ways. Ramaiah’s role has been given a complete new spin by film’s dialogue and screenplay writer Trivikram Srinivas being played by Sai Tej, while Pawan is playing the time.

A joint production venture between People Media Factory and Zee Studios, the film also features Priya Prakash Varrier, Ketika Sharma, Brahmanandam, Tanikella Bharani, Subbaraju, Raja Chembolu and Rohini in other roles, while S Thaman is the music composer.
