Telugu Film Producers’ Council on Saturday requested the Exhibition Sector to give precedence to Telugu films during festivals like Sankranti and Dasara while simultaneously indicating that the remaining theatres may be allotted to dubbing films from other languages.

In this context, the Council reminded the Sector of the decision that Telugu Chamber of Commerce had undertaken at an Emergency Meeting in December of 2017: “Only straight Telugu films should be given preference during the festivals of Sankranti and Dasara.”

The Council has also reiterated what Vice-President of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, Dil Raju had said back in 2019: “How can we give theatres to dubbed movies during the festivals?” Keeping all this in mind, the Council had requested the Exhibitors to invariably implement the decision.

This Sankranti, the box-office will witness the battle between megastar Chiranjeevi-starrer Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna-fronted Veera Simha Reddy and there is a tremendous frenzy in the media about the much-vaunted contest. Also, in the fray is Thalapathy Vijay-starrer Varasudu, which is a Telugu dubbed venture of Tamil film, Varisu. Ajith Kumar-starrer Thunivu is also getting ready for a release during Pongal.
