Last seen playing a cameo of sorts in Nithiin-starrer Extra–Ordinary Man, actor Rajasekhar has evinced his interest to be a part of Sharwanand’s next with UV Creations, has learnt exclusively. The film in question marks Loser web series fame Abhilash Reddy’s feature directorial debut and is already on sets in Hyderabad.

Sources tell us that the veteran actor, who was narrated the story earlier this month, was highly impressed with his character and its arc and decided to hop on board. The fact that the offer came from a reputed banner like UV was another reason, we hear. This latest signing is an effort from him to associate with strong supporting roles and move with the times.

A source close to the development tells us, “Rajasekhar will be playing Sharwa’s father in the film. He will be at loggerheads with Sharwa constantly. It’s an aggressive role and you’ll see the vibes of an angry Rajasekhar once again but this time as a 50-year-old. It’s a role with two variations– he will be seen as the father of young and adult Sharwa. He will go for a slight makeover and will join the sets in April in Hyderabad.”

The as-yet untitled film, co-starring Malvika Nair, is a period family drama with a unique backdrop. “As it’s a period drama, most of the production is happening in multiple sets that have been erected for the film; in fact another massive set is being designed right now for the next schedule. The film will be one of the biggest budgeted films of Sharwa’s career. The present schedule concludes on March 2nd and the next schedule kicks off in April first week in Hyderabad.”

Technicians like Ghibran (music), Rajeevan (production designer) and J Yuvaraj (cinematographer) are working on the film.
