The recently released glimpse of Ram Charan-starrer Peddi has heightened expectations surrounding the film which is slotted for a release on March 27 next year. Having gone on to floors last year, the film is progressing smoothly. In a recent interaction, film’s writer-director Buchi Babu Sana explained what went into writing the screenplay. Stating that the film is a combination of real and fictional stories from a village, he revealed, “I always aspire to tell stories that are rooted because I feel that’s where more people can resonate with the core emotion and incidents. Moreover, a rooted story can generate great intensity and has the power to influence. And if the scenes in the film can also resonate with the audiences, then it creates a greater impact on the story”.
Opening up about his leading light’s reaction to the script narration, Buchi Babu added, “When Charan sir heard the script, he was instantly hooked to his characterization and the plotline. When I was narrating the story, Charan garu was listening intensely and could feel the vibe the story was generating. The story struck a chord with him so much that he okayed the script in the very first sitting itself with minor corrections. And the rest as they say is history.”
Towards the end of the glimpse, there’s a shot of Charan coming down the cricket pitch, passing for a bit while thudding the handle on to the pitch, before smashing the ball for a six. This shot has been the talking point ever since the glimpse released and has been used as a gif by many X users during and after IPL matches are concluded. “I was thrilled with the response and wanted to thank the fans and audiences. I want to credit fight master Navakanth for the super success, he designed the shot,” noted the director.
