Continuing its dream run in the awards circuit in the West, SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been adjudged as the Best International Film at HCA awards on Friday night in Los Angeles, USA. This latest honour comes in the wake of the film winning Golden Globe for Naatu Naatu and multiple critics’ choice awards in the Best International Film category. In addition, it has scored a nomination at Oscars for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song).
At the sixth annual edition of the HCA Film Awards, RRR edged out favourites like All Quiet on the Western Front, Argentina, 1985, Close and Decision to Leave to bag the top prize, while it also won awards in Best Stunts, Best Action and Best Song (Naatu Naatu) categories.
Accepting the award for Best Stunts, Rajamouli thanked his stunt masters beginning with “Solomon who put in a lot of effort to compose and execute all of the stunts”. He added, “Juji who did helped in some of the climax action sequences. There were other stunt masters who came to India, understood our vision, changed their working style to suit ours and delivered what we had today. Of course my wonderful actors NTR and Ram Charan! In the innumerable action shots the film had, they used body doubles for just two or three shots; each and every stunt was performed by them itself. They are wonderful guys. It’s the combined effort of all the team members. And I thank them. We put in 320 days of hard work to make this film and most of those days were taken by the stunts. This recognition means a lot; not just to me, my film but for the whole Indian film industry.”
Set in 1920s pre-independent India, RRR revolves around the fictional exploits of two real freedom fighters Komaram Bheem (played by NTR) and Alluri Seetharama Raju (Charan) against the British Raj.
