At the Hollywood Critics’ Awards 2023, RRR won honours in best international film, best action film, best song and best stunts categories, making the nation proud. The pictures of Rajamouli, Ram Charan, MM Keeravani and K Senthil Kumar attending the event and collecting their trophies went viral. However, Jr NTR was MIA at the event and with the official handles of HCA using the moniker global star for Ram Charan meant that the fans of NTR felt they were hard done by. This naturally didn’t go well with them and they came down heavily on HCA authorities for not honouring their beloved star.
Trying to put a closure on this episode, The Hollywood Critics Association on Tuesday morning issued a statement clarifying that the actor was invited. “Dear RRR fans & supporters, we did invite N. T. Rama Rao Jr. to attend the #HCAFilmAwards but he is shooting a new film in India. He will be receiving his awards from us shortly. Thank you for all your love and support. Sincerely, The Hollywood Critics Association,” read a statement from the official account of HCA.
When a fan reminded HCA that NTR couldn’t attend the event due to the demise of his cousin brother Taraka Ratna, HCA said the star was filming a movie when the personal tragedy transpired. “He was originally shooting a movie which is why he couldn’t attend. His brother passing happened afterwards and is why he stepped away from the movie. This is what his publicist told us,” they added.
NTR will be next seen in Koratala Siva’s untitled action entertainer, whose muhurat had to be deferred from last week due to Taraka Ratna’s death. The makers– Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts– it is understood are planning to launch the film in the second week of March.
