The Academy on Wednesday night announced the shortlists in 10 categories: documentary feature film, documentary short film, international feature film, makeup and hairstyling, music (original score), music (original song), animated short film, live action short film, sound, and visual effects.
Naatu Naatu was chosen out of 81 songs. Other songs on the list include "Nothing Is Lost" from Avatar: The Way of Water, "Lift Me Up" from Blank Panther: Wakanda Forever, and "Hold My Hand" from Top Gun: Maverick, among others.
The nominations for the Oscars will be announced on Tuesday, Jan 24, 2023, while the Oscars ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Dolbyยฎ Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
