In yet another achievement for Indian cinema courtesy RRR, the wildly infectious cross-cultural hit Naatu Naatu from the film will be performed live on stage at the 95th Academy Awards.
Composed by MM Keeravani, who already won multiple awards in the US, including the Golden Globe for Best Original song, the song has been written by Chandrabose while Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava lent their vocals for it. Both the singers, in a first for them, will be live on Oscar’s stage to croon it.
“Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. “Naatu Naatu." LIVE at the 95th Oscars,” the Academy Twitter handle posted on Tuesday night.
Reacting to the massive announcement, Sipligunj wrote on his Instagram page: "This is going to be unforgettable moment in my life."
At the Oscars, Naatu Naatu, which has racked up more than 122 million views on YouTube, is nominated in the original song category alongside "This Is A Life" from "Everything Everywhere All at Once," "Applause" from "Tell It Like a Woman," and "Lift Me Up" from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," all of which are part of the scheduled performances for the 95th annual ceremony.
The Oscars ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, with Jimmy Kimmel hosting it.
