There has been no stopping SS Rajamouli’s RRR ever since it was released last March. It made waves in the West when it had a Netflix release there. And soon its fame transcended world borders. While missing out in the Best Foreign Film category at the 95th Academy Awards, its song from the film, Naatu Naatu, made it to the final round of nominations. Not to forget the Golden Globe it won for Naatu Naatu. Now adding another feather to its illustrious cap, RRR has won the 2022 Golden Tomato award for the Best Fan Favorite Movie by Rotten Tomatoes, which is a famous US reviews aggregation portal.
“#RRRMovie is the #GoldenTomato Award Winner for Fan Favorite Movie of 2022 Sending love to all our fans who voted for #RRR! Touched by your infinite supply of love and unwavering support,” posted RRRMovie Twitter handle earlier today.
The action extravaganza has beaten Hollywood favourite movies like Tom Cruise’s aerial action-adventure flick Top Gun: Maverick (Rank 2), multiverse actioner Everything Everywhere All at Once (Rank 3), The Batman (Rank 4) and James Cameron’s blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water’ (Rank 5) to clinch the top spot. At one point, Everything Everywhere dominated the polls, but in the second week, RRR had taken the first spot, which it never ceded.
RRR centres around two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Seetharamaraju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR), their friendship, their differences and their fight against the British Raj. Produced by DVV Danayya, it had earworms by MM Keeravani.
