Vijayendra Prasad has had a career spanning over three decades in Telugu cinema, but the previous decade has been quite memorable for him as a writer, helping him spread his wings across industries. One of his most credible achievements was his ability to reinvent himself as a writer with RRR, sustaining his momentum even after delivering global hits like Baahubali 1 and 2.

While taking film buffs through his writing approach for RRR, Vijayendra Prasad had interesting views to share about the roles of Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the film. “On a writing level, there was no bias, we crafted the characters hoping that both would create a similar impact on the screen. Yes, Ram Charan’s role may have more shades, but Jr NTR had an equally challenging character to play.”

He stated that the climax for RRR was only an attempt to showcase Alluri Sita Rama Raju in his true avatar for Telugu audiences. “The parallel between Lord Ram and the character wasn’t on our mind. Hindi speaking audiences related with the Lord Ram aspect more, but it wasn’t created intentionally.”

“If one noticed, we also established Jr NTR as a powerhouse, who’s as powerful as Bheema. Playing his role is difficult because he needs to portray innocence and support Ram throughout his journey.” The Oscar win for Naatu Naatu was a cherry on the cake, Vijayendra Prasad admits, but he expected Jr NTR, Ram Charan’s performances to be acknowledged as well in the ceremony.
