After turning heads with her sensible portrayal of Priya in Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati– Side A (dubbed version of Kannada film Sapta Saagaradaache Ello – Side A), Bengaluru beauty Rukmini Vasanth was linked to Vijay Deverakonda’s next with Gowtam Tinnanuri. While we don’t know what transpired in the end, Bhagyashri Borse, who is making her Telugu debut with Mr. Bachchan, was eventually cast opposite Vijay.

But fans of Vijay who wanted to see Rukmini opposite their favourite star need not wait any longer. Sources tell us exclusively that she is almost confirmed to play the leading lady in Vijay’s next with Ravi Kiran Kola, who made a splash with Raja Vaaru Rani Vaaru almost five years ago. “Rukmini is in the final round of negotiations to play the leading lady in the film, which will be Sri Venkateswara Creations 59th production. She was narrated the part sometime back and she evinced interest straightway. It’s a strong and intense part,” a source close to the development confirms to us.

The as-yet-untitled film, which is believed to go to floors later this year, is a period rural action drama set in the backdrop of local politics. A significant chunk of the film will be shot in Hyderabad, while parts will be shot in some coastal areas. Majority of the supporting cast will include fresh faces.

Sharing the poster of this film on his 35th birthday earlier this May, Vijay wrote on X, “The blood on my hands is not of their death, but of my own rebirth.”

Vijay, who is presently occupied with Gowtam Tinnanuri’s spy drama, has also signed his Taxiwaala helmer Rahul Sankrityan’s next, which will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
