Fans of Prabhas who have been waiting for an update of Salaar, here is one for you. The action-drama, which is one of the hotly anticipated ventures of next year, is 85 percent complete so far, according to Hombale Films chief Vijay Kiragandur. In a recent interview, Vijay added they will be wrapping up the film by the end of January next year and will later allocate six months to VFX. He assured that it will meet the release date of September 28 for sure.

Vijay is pretty confident that Salaar, also featuring Malayalam heavyweight Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jagapathi Babu and Shruti Haasan, will break the box office records that were established by his productions so far. “I believe this film has the potential to beat the box office records created by our films so far,” he declared. “I saw the rushes. It’s an out-and-out action film. Prabhas and Prithviraj have done a superb job.”

Like KGF, his earlier directorial venture, director Prashanth Neel is considering making Salaar a franchise, with reports having surfaced already that it will be a two-part affair. Vijay noted that they are “open to the idea of making sequels for Salaar” but “will take the call after we watch the finished film.”

A Ravi Basrur musical, the movie also features Sriya Reddy, Easwari Rao and Madhu Guruswamy in supporting roles. Its principal photography began last January at Godavarikhani, Telangana.
