On Monday, the release trailer of Salaar was delayed by one-and-a-half hours but it was worth the wait as the trailer sets the tone for what to expect from the film. While the earlier trailer focused on the friendship between Varadha Raja Mannar (Prithviraj Sukumaran) and Deva (Prabhas), the brand new trailer offered the audiences another peek into the expansive world of Khansaar, which has a gloomy and dystopian theme with gore and violence scattered all over.
Spanning nearly three minutes in length, the trailer begins with a voiceover telling Varadha Raja Mannar how back in the Persian kingdom, the sultan would seek the help of one man for whatever big problem that arises instead of going to his powerful army. The trailer then cuts to the present and that one man in the film is Deva, a mechanic. When men around him joke whether he can handle a gun, he fires a round of bullets, much to their shock. “Anthega”? Deva says curtly. Cut to the sultan story. The one man would bring whatever the sultan desires and destroy whatever he didn’t need. Over in Khansaar, the throne seems to be slipping away from Varadha and he knocks on the doors of that one man Deva, who also happens to be his childhood friend. Together how they reclaim Khansaar while battling hundreds of goons and a powerful lady opponent seems to form the crux of the story. “Khansaar changed the fate of many people but Khansaar’s fate is changed when the two best friends become sworn enemies,” the voiceover concludes, alluding to part 2 which focuses on the enmity between Varadha and Deva.
Bursting with action, emotions, anger, retribution, and heart-pounding thrills, the new trailer guarantees an action drama of the highest order, with jaw-dropping action scenes which will give you an adrenaline rush. Prabhas and Prithviraj keep the proceedings simple while Prashanth effectively manages to transport us into the world of Khansaar with his production design and lensing.
Also starring Shruti Haasan, Easwari Rao, Bobby Simha, John Vijay, Ramachandra Raju, Mime Gopi and Sriya Reddy in key roles, Salaar Part 1 is scheduled to release on December 22 in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. KGF fame Ravi Basrur is the music composer.
