Santhana Prapthirasthu is a film starring Vikranth and Chandini Chowdary as the lead pair. It is produced by Madhura Sreedhar Reddy and Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy under the banners of Madhura Entertainment and Nirvi Arts, with direction by Sanjeev Reddy and screenplay by writer Sheikh Dawood G. The movie is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on the 14th of this month. During an interview today, director Sanjeev Reddy shared the film’s highlights.

“I worked as a Chief Manager in a finance company before entering films. Later, I joined director Krishna Vamsi as an Assistant Director for Mahatma. I’ve always been passionate about filmmaking. My independent Hindi film Login received good recognition, and it was later remade in Telugu as Ladies and Gentlemen. I directed ABCD starring Allu Sirish and the web series Aha Naa Pellanta with Raj Tarun. I’ve also directed several advertisements, including the Telangana government’s anti-drug campaign featuring Megastar Chiranjeevi.

Fertility issues are a reality in our society, but no Telugu film has ever addressed male infertility. Some of my friends and family members have gone through such challenges. Though medical science has advanced, they still faced social stigma and emotional distress from family and society. After observing these experiences, I decided to make Santhana Prapthirasthu around this concept.

Actor Vikranth, who earlier did Spark, immediately connected with the story. He had also heard of such real-life issues. Writer Kalyan Raghav and I designed the script to be family-friendly - something that audiences could comfortably watch with their families. If we over-dramatize the problem, it loses authenticity, so we chose to present male infertility with a touch of humor. Bollywood has made a few such films, and we felt it was time Telugu cinema addressed this issue too. It’s not a taboo subject - it’s a social reality.

Recently, small-budget films like Court and Little Hearts have found success. This proves that audiences support strong content. With the rise of OTT, people are more open to good stories. Big stars could have done this film, but I wanted the movie’s success to depend on its storytelling, not star power.

Some producers who watched our preview appreciated it, saying the way we depicted male infertility was tasteful and not uncomfortable. When we sent the prints to the US, even the technicians working there said they enjoyed it and wanted to watch it with their families - that genuinely made me happy. Through this movie, we aim to create awareness about an issue while also delivering a meaningful message.

Santhana Prapthirasthu blends a love story, family emotions, and entertainment while addressing a sensitive subject. Couples facing infertility or general family audiences can watch it comfortably - we treated the topic with dignity and respect. We never made fun of the issue; instead, we created humor through the situations the characters face while dealing with it. The story revolves around the hero’s low sperm count, which forms the core conflict.

We specifically wanted a Telugu actress for the female lead, so we chose Chandini Chowdary. She had no hesitation in portraying a married woman and saw it as her responsibility as an actor to tell such a story. Tharun Bhascker also gave his best performance, refining his role with great effort. Writer Sheikh Dawood, with his strong experience in screenplay writing, crafted a solid narrative. We chose the title Santhana Prapthirasthu because it has cultural resonance - people bless newlyweds with those very words, wishing them children.

Everyone who has watched the film so far has appreciated it, and we hope the same response from the audience after the release. The film carries emotion, entertainment, and a valuable message. We’re confident it will connect with viewers. It’s a topic that was once discussed only behind closed doors, but we believe our film will encourage open conversations. We hope Santhana Prapthirasthu becomes the first step toward that change.”

"సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు" సినిమా ఈ నెల 14న గ్రాండ్ థియేట్రికల్ రిలీజ్ కు రెడీ అవుతోంది. ఈ రోజు జరిగిన ఇంటర్వ్యూలో మూవీ హైలైట్స్ తెలిపారు దర్శకుడు సంజీవ్ రెడ్డి.

- నేను ఒక ఫైనాన్స్ కంపెనీలో చీఫ్ మేనేజర్ గా పనిచేశాను. ఆ తర్వాత కృష్ణవంశీ గారి మహాత్మ చిత్రానికి అసిస్టెంట్ డైరెక్టర్ గా వర్క్ చేశాను. ఫిలిం మేకింగ్ మీద ప్యాషన్ తో ఉండేవాడిని. హిందీలో నేను చేసిన ఇండిపెండెంట్ మూవీ లాగిన్ కు మంచి గుర్తింపు దక్కింది. అదే సినిమా తెలుగులో లేడీస్ అండ్ జెంటిల్ మేన్ సినిమాగా రీమేక్ చేశారు. అల్లు శిరీష్ హీరోగా ఏబీసీడీ, రాజ్ తరుణ్ తో అహా నా పెళ్లంట వెబ్ సిరీస్ లను రూపొందించాను. పలు యాడ్స్ కు డైరెక్షన్ చేశా, మెగాస్టార్ చిరంజీవి గారు తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం కోసం చేసిన యాంటీ డ్రగ్ క్యాంపెయిన్ ప్రకటనలకు దర్శకత్వం వహించాను.

- ఫెర్టిలిటీ ఇష్యూస్ మన సమాజంలో ఉన్నాయి. మేల్ ఫెర్టిలిటీ అనే సమస్య నేపథ్యంగా ఇప్పటిదాకా తెలుగులో మూవీ రాలేదు. నాకు తెలిసిన ఫ్రెండ్స్, ఫ్యామిలీ మెంబర్స్ కొందరు ఇలాంటి ఇష్యూస్ తో బాధపడ్డారు. వారికి ఆధునిక వైద్యంతో పిల్లలు పుట్టినా, ఆ క్రమంలో వారు సొసైటీ నుంచి, ఫ్యామిలీ మెంబర్స్ నుంచి ఎదుర్కొన్న ఇబ్బందులు చూశాను. ఈ కాన్సెప్ట్ తో సినిమా చేస్తే బాగుంటుందని "సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు" స్క్రిప్ట్ రెడీ చేశాను.

- విక్రాంత్ గతంలో స్పార్క్ అనే మూవీ చేశాడు. అతనికి ఈ కథ చెప్పగానే నచ్చింది. ఇలాంటి ఇష్యూస్ గురించి తను కూడా విని ఉన్నాడు. నేను రైటర్ కల్యాణ్ రాఘవ్ "సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు" స్క్రిప్ట్ ను ఫ్యామిలీ మెంబర్స్ తో కలిసి చూసేలా ఉండాలని డిజైన్ చేశాం. ఎక్కువగా సమస్య గురించి చెబితే ఓవర్ డ్రామా అవుతుంది, ఈ కథను చెప్పడంలో కొంచెం హద్దు దాటినా బాగుండదు. అందుకే మేల్ ఫెర్టిలిటీ ఇష్యూను హ్యూమరస్ గానే చెప్పాలని అనుకున్నాం. మనకు బాలీవుడ్ లో ఇలాంటి మూవీస్ కొన్ని వచ్చాయి. ఫెర్టిలిటీ ఇష్యూ అనేది ఇది మాట్లాడకూడని అంశం కాదు, సమాజం ఎదుర్కొంటున్న ఒక సమస్య.

- ఇటీవల కోర్ట్ అనే మూవీ వచ్చి సక్సెస్ అందుకుంది, లిటిల్ హార్ట్స్ సినిమా కూడా విజయాన్ని అందుకుంది. చిన్న సినిమాను మంచి కంటెంట్ తో చేస్తే ప్రేక్షకులు చూస్తారనే నమ్మకం ఉంది. ఓటీటీల ట్రెండ్ వచ్చాక, కంటెంట్ బాగున్న సినిమాలను ఆడియెన్స్ తప్పకుండా సక్సెస్ చేస్తున్నారు. ఈ కథలో పెద్ద హీరోలు కూడా నటించవచ్చు. కానీ పెద్ద హీరోలంటే దర్శకుడిగా నా సక్సెస్, అవన్నీ చూస్తారు కదా.

- మా మూవీని కొంతమంది ప్రొడ్యూసర్స్ ప్రివ్యూ చూశారు, బాగుందని చెప్పారు. మేల్ ఫెర్టిలిటీ ఇష్యూను మా కథలో చూపించడం వల్ల వాళ్లు ఎక్కడా ఇబ్బంది పడలేదు. ఆ విషయం మాతో చెప్పారు. అలాగే యూఎస్ కు ప్రింట్స్ పంపినప్పుడు అక్కడ ప్రింట్స్ కోసం వర్క్ చేసే ఆపరేటర్స్ మూవీ చూసి బాగుంది, మా ఫ్యామిలీతో వెళ్లి చూస్తామని జెన్యూన్ గా చెప్పడం హ్యాపీగా అనిపించింది. మా సినిమా ద్వారా ఒక సమస్యపై అవగాహన కల్పిస్తున్నాం, ఒక చిన్న మెసేజ్ కూడా ఉంటుంది.

- "సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు" సినిమాలో లవ్ స్టోరీ ఉంటుంది, ఫ్యామిలీ ఎమోషన్స్ ఉంటాయి, ఎంటర్ టైన్ మెంట్ ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. ఈ ఎలిమెంట్స్ అన్నీ ఉన్న కథలో చిన్న ఇష్యూను కూడా చూపిస్తున్నాం. మా సినిమాను చూసేందుకు పిల్లలు లేని కపుల్స్ గానీ, ఫ్యామిలీ ఆడియెన్స్ గానీ ఎక్కడా ఇబ్బంది పడరు. ఇష్యూపై ఉన్న రెస్పెక్ట్, కథను చెప్పే విధానంలో డిగ్నిటీతోనే వెళ్లాం. మేము ఇష్యూను ఎక్కడా ఫన్ చేయలేదు. ఇష్యూను ఎదుర్కొనే సందర్భాల్లో మాత్రం ఎంటర్ టైన్ మెంట్ క్రియేట్ చేశాం. హీరోకున్న లో స్పెర్మ్ కౌంట్ అనేది కథలో ప్రధానాంశం.

- ఈ కథలో హీరోయిన్ గా తెలుగమ్మాయి అయితేనే బాగుంటుందని చాందినీ చౌదరిని తీసుకున్నాం. మ్యారీడ్ వుమెన్ గా నటించడానికి ఆమె ఏమాత్రం సందేహించలేదు. పైగా ఇలాంటి ఇష్యూను చెప్పడం నటిగా తన బాధ్యతగా భావించింది. తరుణ్ భాస్కర్ నటుడిగా తన పాత్రను వీలైనంత ఇంప్రూవ్ చేసి నటించారు. స్క్రీన్ ప్లే రైటింగ్ లో మంచి ఎక్సిపీరియన్స్ ఉన్న షేక్ దావూద్ మా మూవీకి చక్కని కథనాన్ని అందించారు. కథకు కాంట్రాస్ట్ ఉన్న టైటిల్స్ ప్రేక్షకులకు ఎక్కువకాలం గుర్తుంటాయి. మనకు పెళ్లి కాగానే సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు అని దీవిస్తారు. అలా ఈ టైటిల్ పెట్టాం. యూత్ తో పాటు ఫ్యామిలీ ఆడియెన్స్ మా మూవీకి రావాలని కోరుతున్నాం.

- మా సినిమాను ఇప్పటిదాకా చూసిన వాళ్లంతా అప్రిషియేట్ చేశారు. ఇదే ప్రశంసలు రేపు ప్రేక్షకుల నుంచి కూడా వస్తాయని ఆశిస్తున్నాం. ఎమోషన్, ఎంటర్ టైన్ మెంట్ తో పాటు మంచి మెసేజ్ కూడా ఉంది కాబట్టి ప్రేక్షకుల్ని మెప్పిస్తామనే నమ్మకంతో ఉన్నాం. ఇప్పటిదాకా నాలుగు గోడల మధ్యనే మాట్లాడుకునే అంశాన్ని ఓపెన్ గా డిస్కస్ చేస్తారనే అనుకుంటున్నాం. ఆ మార్పు తెచ్చేందుకు మొదటి అడుగు మా సినిమా అవుతుందని ఆశిస్తున్నాం.
