SJ Suryah’s monstrous act takes centre stage in the glimpse of Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, which the makers interestingly titled as Not a Teaser. It was dropped on Saturday to coincide with the director-turned-actor’s birthday.

Spanning 1:20 minutes, the glimpse opens in the middle of a slum where people run helter-skelter as soon as they spot Suryah, a cop, arriving in a car, while in a voice over (presumably of Nani), someone says in the ancient times there was a demon Narakasura who used to trouble the people a lot. Equating the Narakasura to Suryah here, we get to see the latter in a long shot breaking open a door. The next series of shots show him brutally assaulting people on roads and in custody. We later see Nani joining forces with Priyanka Mohan, a constable, to defeat Suryah. The glimpse concludes with Nani wishing ‘Happy birthday sir’ to Suryah who is shown in a close up laughing wickedly while lying down on the floor smoking a cigarette.

Overall, the glimpse establishes what we need to look forward in Suryah’s character who with his quirks and intensity completely owns the role, while the cat and mouse game between him and Nani’s part seems to dot the narrative, promising an arresting thriller. The background score is pumping and amps up the intensity of the glimpse.

Written and directed by Vivek Athreya, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, to bow in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages on August 29th, is a DVV Danayya production.
