The trailer of Simbaa was unveiled by the makers at an event in Hyderabad on Wednesday and it promises to be a message-oriented drama with a thriller touch to it.

Playing out over two minutes and 38 seconds, the trailer opens with Jagapathi Babu, in a tedx-like platform, stating that air pollution is killing 65 percent of the population across the globe–more than smoking and alcohol consumption. There’s Anasuya, a teacher, who believes material things that won’t last, while highlighting the significance of growing plants to her pupils. There’s also a love track involving Divi Vadthya and Srikanth Maganti. Things take a turn when a series of murders are committed in Hyderabad and police believe it’s the handiwork of a woman. Turns out, the killer is Anasuya but she doesn’t know it as she is suffering from split-personality. Jagapathi too is shown bashing people who are destroying the environment. The rest of the story seems to focus on his and Anasuya’s journey as they try to safeguard the environment.

Rounding up, the trailer seems to have all the trappings of a social entertainer; wherein pressing global issues are addressed. The production values are decent while JB and Anasuya are neat. The likes of Gowtami, Vasista Simha, Kabir Duhan Singh and Anish Kuruvilla seem to have landed strong supporting parts.

Simbaa, to bow out on August 9th, is a joint production venture between Sampath Nandi and Dasari Rajendara Reddy under the banners of Sampath Nandi Team Works and Raj Dasari Productions. Murali Manohar directed the project from a script by Sampath Nandi, while Krishna Saurabh composed the music.
