For fans of SS Rajamouli who want to get an insight into the master filmmaker’s craft and what goes into his thought-process which resulted in some ground-breaking films like two part Baahubali, Eega and RRR, here is some good news for you. Streaming giant Netflix on Saturday announced a documentary called Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli, which is a part of the docu-series Modern Masters by Applause Entertainment and Film Companion.

“One man. Numerous blockbusters. Endless ambition. What did it take for this legendary filmmaker to reach his peak? Modern Masters: S.S. Rajamouli, coming on 2 August, only on Netflix,” Netflix wrote on X alongside a poster featuring Rajamouli.

The documentary highlights the high-flying filmmaker’s influence on Indian and international cinema, with interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. Hollywood heavy hitters like James Cameron, Joe Russo, Indian leading stars like Jr NTR, Prabhas, Ram Charan and Bollywood and Bollywood heavyweight Karan Johar will give insights on Rajamouli and what goes into his films.

“SS Rajamouli is a visionary whose imagination has altered the course of Indian cinema,” said Film Companion chief Anupama Chopra in a statement to US-based entertainment magazine Deadline. “His craft has captivated audiences around the world. His epic narratives have redefined storytelling standards. We are thrilled to work with Netflix and Applause Entertainment to highlight his extraordinary career and his lasting influence on the world of film.”

Rajamouli, whose last film was global hit RRR, is now gearing up to start his next, a forest adventure with superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead.
