Nandamuri Balakrishna on Wednesday reopened Asian Tarakarama Cineplex at Kachiguda, Hyderabad. The new unveiling was attended by a host of dignitaries including Sirish, YVS Chowdary and Prasanna Kumar among others.

Speaking to media persons later, Balakrishna said the Tarakarama theatre has a history. “I’m the chairman of Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, which was established in the memory of my mother. It is a temple to me. Likewise, this theatre is also a temple to me because it’s a combination of both mom and dad’s name. It was started in 1978 with Akbar, Salim Anarkali. Due to unseen circumstances, it was re-launched in 1995. Now, it’s the third time. It has a rich history. Don ran here for 525 days. My films too– Mangamma Gari Manavadu, Muddula Mavaiah, Muddula Krishnaiah, Muddula Menalludu and Anasuyamma Gari Alludu– performed exceedingly well here. It all boiled down to the auspicious muhurat that dad had fixed for it,” Balayya said, flushed with excitement.

He added that his son was christened as Mokshagna Tarakarama Teja by his dad at the theatre. “Narayan Das Narang had close ties with dad. His children Sunil and Bharat Narang are continuing their dad’s legacy. We are all family members. Tarakarama will be run under Asian supervision from now on and I’m happy about it. The association should continue. I extend my congratulations to my brother Nandamuri Mohana Krishna,” he noted. Balayya also took the opportunity to recall the good old days of crossing the theatre on bike to shoot at Ramakrishna Cine Studios, Musheerabad.

Further, he said, “Sunil Narang told me that ticket rates are affordable. It’s a healthy practice for the industry.OTT medium is giving competition to the industry, which is why people associated with films should come up with good content. I’m certain Telugu people will come to theatres. Industry will be good and there won’t be any issues for the exhibition sector. We are seeing today that Telugu films are being dubbed or remade in other languages. Our cinema has reached pan India level. I attribute it to the blessings of Kalamathalli and Nanna garu. Industry and its stakeholders should prosper well.”
